Returns and Authenticity Guarantee
We offer two distinct protections on every purchase: a seven-day inspection window for buyer's-remorse returns, and a lifetime authenticity guarantee that has no expiration date. Both are described below in plain terms.
Returns policy summary. Inspection-window returns within 7 calendar days require buyer-paid insured return shipping. Authenticity guarantee returns and operator-error returns are covered by SharkDr.com. See full terms below.
Seven-day inspection window
You may return any tooth, pendant, or available-for-purchase jaw within seven calendar days of delivery for a full refund of the purchase price. The seven-day clock starts on the date the carrier records delivery. To qualify for a full refund, the item must return in the same condition in which it was sent, in its original packaging, with the certificate of authenticity and identification card included.
To start a return, email returns@sharkdr.com with your order number and a brief reason. We will reply with return-shipping instructions, including the insured-return label cost (which is deducted from your refund unless the return is the result of our error).
Refunds are issued to the original payment method within five business days of our receipt of the returned item. The original outbound shipping fee is non-refundable except where the return is the result of our error.
Exclusions to the inspection window
- Inquiry-only jaws purchased after a private placement conversation are non-returnable, because the buyer has reviewed the dossier, seen the additional photography and video walkaround, and accepted the piece in writing before the draft order is sent.
- Custom pendant work — settings selected on a one-off basis — is non-returnable once production has begun.
- Items damaged after delivery are not eligible for the inspection-window refund. Damage in transit is covered separately under the shipping insurance and should be reported per the Shipping Policy.
- Items returned without their original certificate of authenticity, identification card, or packaging are subject to a fifteen-percent restocking fee.
Lifetime authenticity guarantee
Every specimen we sell carries a lifetime authenticity guarantee. If a piece is ever shown to be misrepresented in any material respect — wrong species identification, wrong era classification, undisclosed restoration, or any other inaccuracy in the listing — return it for a full refund of the purchase price, regardless of how much time has passed.
The guarantee runs to the original buyer and is transferrable once to a private successor (a family member or named heir). To exercise the guarantee, contact us with photographs of the piece, a copy of the original certificate of authenticity, and a brief description of the discrepancy. We will arrange independent verification at our expense if it is needed.
Institutional buyers
For institutional buyers (museums, universities, qualifying nonprofits), the lifetime authenticity guarantee transfers automatically with the institution's holdings under standard deaccessioning practices, provided the institutional acquisition is documented at the time of original sale. Institutional buyers who anticipate future deaccessioning should retain the original certificate of authenticity, the order confirmation, and any provenance documentation as part of the institutional records.
What is not the guarantee
The lifetime authenticity guarantee is not a buy-back commitment. We do not guarantee a future purchase price; the market for legitimate great white teeth and jaws moves over time, and pricing is determined by the buyer-and-seller relationship of the day. The guarantee is specifically about the accuracy of the listing — what we said the piece was, in writing, at the time of sale.
Restoration and disclosure
Where a piece has been restored, the restoration is described in the listing's condition notes and reflected in the price. Restoration is not a defect in the lifetime guarantee sense as long as it is disclosed. Undisclosed restoration is a defect, and the guarantee covers it.
Return shipping
Returns ship at the buyer's expense for inspection-window returns, unless the return is the result of our error or is being made under the lifetime authenticity guarantee, in which case we cover insured return shipping. Use the insured carrier and signature service we recommend in the return instructions; uninsured returns are not accepted.
