Museums, universities, and qualifying nonprofits are welcome at SharkDr.com. We work directly with institutional buyers on tax-exempt acquisitions, larger holdings, and provenance documentation that meets institutional record-keeping standards.

Tax-exempt acquisitions

If your institution holds a current tax-exempt certificate, submit a copy when initiating the purchase. We process the order through a Shopify draft order with sales tax overridden. Our records retain the certificate alongside the order for the lifetime of the transaction.

Larger holdings

For institutions building a research collection, an exhibit, or a teaching set across multiple specimens, contact us directly to discuss. We can advise on positions, sizes, eras, and locality combinations that suit the intended use, and we can hold pieces during the procurement cycle.

Provenance and documentation

Every SharkDr.com listing carries a per-piece sourcing chain to the level the prior owner provided. We mark gaps plainly. The certificate of authenticity, the order record, the original photographs, and the provenance notes become part of the institutional record. Where partial documentation is available, we say so — the same disclosure standard applies to institutional sales as to individual collector sales.

Lifetime authenticity guarantee for institutions

The lifetime authenticity guarantee runs to the original buyer and transfers automatically with the institution's holdings under standard deaccessioning practices, provided the institutional acquisition is documented at the time of original sale. Retain the certificate of authenticity, the order confirmation, and any provenance documentation as part of the institutional records.
